• What to expect from a visit? •

The first visit.
I always offer a free 20min consultation before a first visit. This allows me to be able to assess your horse's feet, your environment and your needs as an owner. It also allows you the opportunity to get a better idea of what I can offer you and your horse, what being shoeless is really going to entail specifically for you and whether you want to proceed.

Firstly I will complete a Spectrum of Usability. This is a highly useful tool which assesses the strengths and weaknesses of each of the individual structures of the horse's foot and how they will function together as a whole. This allows us to very accurately predict what the foot is capable of at that point in time and what will be required to improve the foot. As each visit progresses it will also allow you to see how the foot is progressing.

  • Your horse will be walked and trotted up to check for lameness's and other gait issues like dishing or brushing.
  • If shoes need to be removed then I can remove them. I will then apply a High Performance Trim.
  • After the trim is complete I will take photos of the feet and walk the horse out again. We will also discuss what the feet will need over the coming weeks until the next visit.
  • A first visit will usually take around 2 hours. Subsequent visits will take about an hour.
